Inspect the furniture before the move; make sure to point out any major damage flaws that are present on the furniture to the movers. Please be advised however that in order to be covered by the liability moving insurance, every item pointed out will need to be individually wrapped before being taken into the moving truck, this procedure can add about 5-10 minutes per piece of furniture but is well worth it. I also doesn’t hurt to take pictures of the furniture before the move showcasing the existing damages done from prior moves or just wear and tear.
Take the kids and pets away from the job site. They are often in the way and will cause distractions in addition to potential hazards as movers often have their hands full with limited vision (carrying heavy items that block their field of sight) , pets and kids can cause them to trip possibly injuring themselves, the kids/pets AND your furniture items…
